Our premises are DDA compliant and fully accessible. Our fire safety certification was revised in 2011 following an increase in seated capacities within the Burdett Theatre.
Accessing the Venue
The main entrance to the building is located in Dean’s Mews, where there is a slope up to the main doors.
The outer doors to the main entrance are open between the hours of 6.30am - 9pm. The inner glass doors open automatically, should they fail we would lock them open to ensure ease of access.
Other entrances may be used around the building upon request. However these do have steps but if access is required directly to those areas, we would provide temporary ramps to aid individuals.
The Venue is wheelchair friendly with level access to all areas at the Ground Floor Level while there is lift access to all floors.
Our Burdett Theatre is equipped with a large stage area that has a detachable ramp. Routinely, we do not have this in use but it can be installed upon request.
Accessible Parking Facilities
There is one disabled parking space located immediately outside our main entrance in Dean’s Mews.
This space is controlled and managed by Westminster City Council. It is used on a first come first served basis.
Alternative parking bays can be found close by on Cavendish Square, Harley Street and Chandos Street. There are also 2 local NCP car parks, one on Cavendish Square and the other in Harley Street.
Accessible Toilet Facilities
Accessible toilet facilities are available on the Lower Ground Floor, Ground Floor, 1st Floor and 2nd Floor.
In total we have 6 fully accessible toilet facilities located within the Venue.
Signage
Our signage is clear and directional and located in all public areas including main reception, lift lobbies, corridors and foyer areas.
Fire Safety and Evacuation
We have an approved Health and Safety Management Plan which incorporates our Fire Safety Policy and Fire Evacuation procedures. These are reviewed on a regular basis by our Health and Safety Consultant.
During operating hours we ensure that there are adequate numbers of emergency personnel on duty to act as Fire Marshalls (and First Aiders).
We have on site 2 evacuation chairs and have a sufficient number of staff trained in their use. These chairs are routinely serviced and well maintained.
Induction Loops
An induction loop system is present at our main reception as well as in our 2 larger theatres.
In 2009 we were awarded the RNID’s Louder than Words Charter Mark for our work on raising awareness.
Disability Awareness Training for Staff
Our reception staff have undertaken training in sign language and general disability awareness while all front of house staff provide high standards of customer care.
