Taking breaks and fuelling your brain

We all know how important it is to take breaks, right? We understand that taking breaks gives us an energy boost which can aid concentration, increase productivity, and enhance creativity. The longer we attempt to operate without a break, the more our mental resources are going to recede away.

This is particularly the case for those attending a full-day conference, and the best partner to a break during your conference is food (healthy and balanced food, that is).

Taking a lunch break and multiple short breaks throughout the day provides an opportunity for delegates’ brains to recuperate and is a proven way to sustain concentration and energy levels throughout the day.

For lunch, you should always try to include vegetables, oily fish, lean meat and other nutritional foods that can boost brain function. The amount of glucose you take in will influence how productive you are for the rest of the day, which can be introduced in the form of fruit and dark chocolate.

At No.11 Cavendish Square, together with our in-house caterers Food by Dish, we pay a lot of attention to how our menus benefit our clients. Our Standing Hot Fork Buffets have been designed to contain split of protein and vegetarian options to offer a balanced choice for you and your guests. There are even superfood options! Here are just a few:

  • Maple-glazed slow-roasted belly pork with chilli-roasted butternut squash and edamame beans

  • Chipotle-spiced roasted salmon, butterbean, avocado and tomato salsa

  • Grilled halloumi, slow-roasted tomato, cauliflower, capers and pecans

  • Ramen-poached tofu with rice noodles and Asian green

  • Shitake mushroom, kale, wood-roasted pepper, goat cheese and sun-blushed tomato wellington with basil sauce

  • Lemon oil-dressed quinoa, avocado and edamame bean salad

 

For your mid-morning or afternoon break, why not try our fruit and chocolate flapjacks or go even healthier with our low-fat lemon cake, skinny flowerpot muffins, honey roasted brazil nuts, or dried blueberry, and apricot and dark chocolate oat bar. Accompanying your food, you could add pomegranate juice, English breakfast tea, Musetti coffee, and T2 herbal infusions.
