‘Tis that time of year again. The festive season means shopping chaos, dazzling light displays, the exchanging of gifts between loved ones, and of course celebrating at any given opportunity!
For those who live and work in London, the city turns from a normal place of work in the day time, into a playground of Christmas parties at night. Whether it’s with colleagues and clients or friends and family, in December the evenings belong to partying.
The Green House here at No.11 Cavendish Square is much the same, all year round.
For those who are unfamiliar with the Green House, it is a bright, airy café in our building open to members of the public as well as the staff of the King’s Fund, the organisation based here.
Every day the Green House offers a diverse and high-quality menu including hot meals, soups, sandwiches and wraps, pastries and cakes, and a selection of coffees, teas and herbal infusions.
Serving both breakfast and lunch, it’s a popular place for neighbours and passers-by to pop in to get away from the crowds of the West End and enjoy delicious treats!
In the evening, however, the Green House completely transforms into a lively and intimate event space.
When night falls, the large coffee machine in the centre of the counter area drops down, creating a bar in the centre of the room which provides 360-degree service.
With a capacity of 80 guests for a seated dinner, or 140 for a standing reception, the room is perfect for a wide range of events, and the open space available allows it to be decorated in a way that suits the needs of your guests.
To truly complete its change from a public café to a private event venue, there are also sliding walls which can be erected to create complete seclusion from the rest of the building.
The most dramatic day to night transformation the Green House goes through is during December. In the daylight it’s business as usual, while in the evening it evolves into one of the exciting themes we have on offer each year.
This year, the Christmas party theme in the Greenhouse is Narnia. Guests will pass through a wardrobe and enter an icy wonderland, complete with snow, crystal chandeliers, and even a polar bear!
If over the Christmas period you are in the Oxford Circus area and want to find shelter from the cold, please do pop by for a coffee in the Green House. Contact the team in advance at firstname.lastname@example.org; we would be happy to welcome and show you around the rest of our wonderful event venue.
