No.11 Cavendish Square recently hosted an exclusive Christmas menu preview for event organisers and corporate clients; who will enjoy the ‘Spectacular Spectacular’ Parisian inspired party theme at the venue this Christmas.

Jonathan Morris, Commercial Director of No.11 Cavendish Square said “We hosted a Christmas tasting last year and did the same this year to give those who have booked a Christmas party with us a little taster of what they can expect. The previews are a great success as organisers see how they can enhance their event with food, drinks and entertainment options. This years tasting was so successful it yielded a booking for Christmas 2012.”

On arrival guests enjoyed a glass of chilled Prosecco and divine cocktails including the ‘Spectacular Spectacular’ (vodka, crushed raspberries, raspberry puree, sugar syrup, lime, pomegranate juice and cranberry juice poured over crushed ice) and the Moulin Rouge (a vodka and raspberry mix) in the Edwards Room, located on the first floor, which overlooks No.11’s large Orangery event space. The Edwards Room was dressed for the ‘Spectacular Spectacular’ theme with tables decorated with red velvet and 3 foot black candelabra centre pieces draped with feather boas.

Business As Usual at No.11 Cavendish Square for London 2012
22nd August 2011

Next July sees the 2012 Games hosted in the capital, followed by the Paralympics Games in August. The buzz around London 2012 is rife and although ticketing issues have been raised the excitement and anticipation for the Games remains. Venues are offering Olympic federations exclusive use of their buildings for the duration of the Games; and in past months many London venues have been snapped up. West End venue No.11 Cavendish Square is opting out of the hype by taking a business as usual approach and will not be bought out by one Olympic federation.

Jonathan Morris, Commercial Director of No.11 Cavendish Square explains: “No.11 is The King’s Fund’s venue. We have too many regular clients to be exclusively booked by one host nation for the length of the Games. Our wedding bookings continue to grow and we already have dates in the diary for next year. Enquiries have also come in from clients of competitor venues disgruntled that their venues will not be able to accommodate them during the 2012 Games. Clients need to know that not all event spaces and equipment have been allocated to the Games.No.11 holds enough equipment to put on a range of events for up to 300 people and for us it will be business as usual.”

With over 30 rooms available exquisitely combining period features of the Georgian era; ornate fireplaces, chandeliers and cornicing with contemporary designed event spaces and presentation suites boasting the latest AV technology for hire, organisers are spoilt for choice at No.11 Cavendish Square.

No.11 Extends Catering Contract with Ampersand
No.11 Extends Catering Contract with Ampersand
29th July 2011

No.11 Cavendish Square has extended its catering contract with Ampersand following a strong pitch against three other catering companies. The new 3 year contract has a combined total turnover value of £5.4m and will see Ampersand continue to provide catering and hospitality services at the venue. Ampersand first won the No.11 account 8 years ago; the new contract term will see the partnership reach 11 years of service.

Jonathan Morris, Commercial Director of No.11 Cavendish Square said: “During the process all four caterers came back with impressive pitches, but Ampersand raised the stakes and we are delighted to continue working in partnership. We were won over by Ampersand’s diverse range of extra touches which will see No.11 rival the catering and hospitality services of the best boutique London hotels. Going forward we want No.11 to be seen as a truly landmark event venue that brings affordable luxury to clients events.”

“Working with my new Director of Operations Martin Dibben, we set out to identify the ‘wow’ factors that would ensure that we retained this prestigious contract and we are thrilled to have done so,” explained Paul Jackson, Managing Director of Ampersand. “Gary Devereaux, our executive head chef, has created bespoke menus that reflect the trends found in the best restaurants right now – themed tasting dishes and small plates for example – ideas that really work for canapés and receptions with a difference.  Above all our emphasis is on affordable luxury supported by well trained and enthusiastic five-star staff”

No.11 Cavendish Square dramatically combines the period features of the Georgian era with contemporary designed rooms. The venue houses over 30 event spaces spread across four floors with several large theatres, breakout rooms, board rooms, and an Orangery which leads onto a courtyard garden with a feature ‘living wall.’ The venue is available for product launches, summer and Christmas parties, gala dinners, receptions, meetings and conferences.

No.11 Cavendish Square sees 36% rise in events as it celebrates First Birthday
18th April 2011

No.11 Cavendish Square launched in April 2010 under the direction of the newly appointed Commercial Director, Jonathan Morris, who undertook the role in October 2009. This month No.11 celebrates its 1st birthday and reports a 36% rise in events compared to 2009 figures. Since its launch the venue has hosted 2,500 events including conferences, meetings, dinner dances, summer and Christmas parties for private and corporate clients.

Morris said “I was tasked with launching The King’s Fund’s newly refurbished event spaces and creating and launching a separate brand identity; No.11 Cavendish Square to tap into the corporate and commercial events industry as The King’s Fund is well established in the healthcare sector. We launched the No.11 Cavendish Square brand at a very difficult economic time and are delighted with the results we have achieved within a year.”

The launch party held in early 2010 showcased No.11’s venue spaces as well as the summer and Christmas party offering; a new venture for the venue which would make these types of corporate events available for the very first time. With over 30 rooms available combining features of the Georgian era and contemporary designed rooms No.11 is ideal for a range of events from conferences to weddings.

Investment in the venue has seen £100,000 refurbishment on the conservatory event space transforming it into an 18th century inspired Orangery. Further refurbishment included the redecorating of the Presidents and Treasurers rooms in keeping with the venue’s Georgian features, and £250,000 refurbishment on the lavatories to enable them to be more environmentally friendly by reducing water and electricity wastage.

Looking at the year ahead Commercial Director Jonathan Morris plans to evolve the No.11 brand to include a more tailored one to one customer service experience.  As well as developing the venues environmental credentials by applying for the Green Business Tourism Award and the London-centric Green Business Award. No.11’s Orangery is now bearing fruit and plans to harvest the produce for chutneys, marmalade and juices to be used in menus are being discussed as a means of enhancing sustainability.

No.11 Cavendish Square unveils refurbishment plans for conservatory event space
09th December 2010

Situated in the heart of London’s West End, No.11 Cavendish Square dramatically combines period features of the Georgian era including ornate fireplaces, chandeliers and cornicing with contemporary designed conference suites boasting the latest AV technology. Planned refurbishment of the 200 capacity conservatory (due to be completed by 4th January) will see the event space transformed into a 18th Century inspired scented ‘Orangery’.

Jonathan Morris, commercial director of No.11 Cavendish Square said “Architects based No.11’s conservatory on Belton House, a National Trust venue in Lincolnshire with an Orangery. After building work on our conservatory was completed in 2010 the finishing touches were postponed. We’ve been inspired to carry out the architect’s initial concepts and have chosen to create a new space for guests to enjoy in 2011.”

Brass sconces will decorate the Orangery which will house 16 mandarin orange trees, natively known as Citrus reticulata (imported from Pulpi; a small Spanish town south of Alicante) as well as olive and kumquat trees. The trees will be planted in Italian style terracotta pots, watered weekly and pruned during the summer months by No.11’s preferred florist; Floral Symphonies. Brass sculptures will feature in the courtyard garden (adjacent to the ‘Orangery’) which already boasts a ‘living wall’ installation and candle lit water fixture. The overall effect will considerably enhance the setting for any event taking place at No.11 and is the only Orangery available for hire in the West End.

In keeping with the venue’s Georgian features additional redecoration in the President’s and Treasurer’s Room including re-painting, re-carpeting and new furnishings will be taken up and completed by February 2011.
