A look back at 2017

As another year comes to an end we’re taking some time to reflect on the last 12 months and all the exciting things that have happened at No.11 Cavendish Square. We thought we’d also take some time to look ahead to see what’s on the horizon for our historic, central London venue next year.

For the third year in a row, February 2017 saw us hold a fabulous wedding showcase. Our in-house catering company, Dish, served delicious canapes and bubbles for couples and their families and The Green House and the Orangery were dressed in all of their Big Day finery. Weddings and civil partnerships are two of our favourite events to be a part of and watching couples visiting for the first time is always really exciting. Watch this space for details of our next open day.

The change in season is always an exciting time for us, as it means we get to see what creations our kitchens have come up with for the new, seasonal menus. This year they produced some of their most innovative and delicious dishes yet. Highlights included street food with European, Asian, Indian, British or American influences – a great way to add a little theatre to an event. From our more formal menus, guests particularly enjoyed the Fillet of halibut – carrot puree, lemon thyme rosti potato, tenderstem broccoli and charred chicory main and the Dark chocolate mousse – spiced cherries, biscotti and vanilla ice cream. We also saw a surge in clients opting for our fabulous, sharing boards – they really are a great way to help guests connect.

We take great pride in the décor and facilities of all of our spaces and at the beginning of spring, it was the Edwards Room’s turn to get a top to toe refurbishment. The project saw a complete upgrade of the AV equipment, a new lighting system, the introduction of an integrated cloakroom and an aesthetic makeover, which means the room is now in keeping with the adjacent Maxwell Room. Since the renovation, the two spaces can be hired as a suite. The room, which can host up to 150 guests for a reception, has been in high demand for large meetings, parties and sit down dinners.

At the end of a busy summer party season, we were delighted to announce that Matthew Tolchard, formerly of The Rubens at The Palace Hotel, Hotel 41 and BBar, was to join the team as Head of Commercial Activities. He settled into the venue and his new role very quickly and his positive impact was clear to see from the off. Matthew says he sees his job to ‘focus on earning clients' business, ensuring that our teams are trained to deliver the thousands of individual standards which go into making a brilliant event.’

So all in all 2017 was a hugely productive and successful year for No.11 Cavendish Square, and it’s with great excitement that we look towards 2018. As Gold credential holders for Carbon Smart and AIM awards, we’re hugely proud of the standards we set as a business, in terms of our environmental policy and our levels of client satisfaction. We can’t wait to welcome you all back to No.11 Cavendish Square, and to open our doors for the first time to new clients.
