Why we love spring…

As the evenings get lighter and the first shoots of spring flowers begin to emerge, we at No.11 Cavendish Square find it hard to contain our excitement about the change of season. As our attentions turn to our summer party bookings, we take a look at what makes our stunning, central London venue a fabulous choice for planners wanting to make the most of the warmer weather.


It’s one of nature’s most powerful sources of energy and No.11 Cavendish Square’s architecture ensures all guests enjoy an abundance of it. In the original Georgian part of the building, typical to the era, ceiling to floor windows and doors flood many of the rooms with natural light. The Treasurer’s Room, Garden Room and President’s Room are particularly fine examples of this trait.

In the contemporary part of the venue, light also plays a crucial role the design of the space. The Orangery, which interlinks with our stunning Courtyard, benefits from a pitched glass roof and very high ceilings. The effect is nothing short of spectacular and the light, airy space gives organisers all the bonuses of outside space, with none of the risks.

Outside space

Finding a central London venue with a beautiful, tranquil outdoor space is never easy. But the crowning glory of No.11 Cavendish Square is our recently refurbished Courtyard Garden. The centrepiece of the space is undoubtedly its living wall which cocoons visitors in lush greenery – the perfect environment in which to socialise and relax. Contemporary furniture and a stylish water feature complete the look – plus, the courtyard is joined to the Orangery should the heaven opens and you need a wet weather contingency.


Spring and summer not only bring about longer evenings and better weather, but the warmer seasons also herald the arrival of the great British tradition of the barbecue. Cooking and dining alfresco is such a huge part of outdoor events and this year our menus are particularly impressive. Dishes include Rosemary, lemon and garlic infused lamb cutlets and ‘Posh Dogs’ – Toulouse sausage with torpedo rolls with sauerkraut and French mustard. Making the most of the seasonal gluts of British produce, our in-house caterer, Dish, has also created some fabulous salads and puddings, like their delicious Truffle crème fraiche new potato salad and their Raspberry mousse cakes with lemon balm fresh raspberries.

In addition to our barbecue menus this year, our chefs have introduced some fabulous ‘From the Market’ additions - oysters, hog roast pork and lobster tails to name but a few. These dishes, when served along with your barbecue, add a touch of theatre to any event.

Drinks and canapés

There’s nothing quite like sipping a glass of something fruity and bubbly on a warm, summer’s eve. Drinks receptions are a great way to embrace the joys of summer and to get colleagues and clients together to celebrate. We’ve created a recipe menu to inspire your drinks decisions, see if any of these tipples take your fancy.

As well as treating your guests to creative cocktails, canapes are a sure-fire way to impress your guests. They are one of our all-time favourite things about events! This summer, pick from our selection of delights which include a fresh and fragrant Seared yellow fin tuna with cucumber, pickled carrot, radish and affilia cress salad or a tangy Citrus cured seabass and salsify and black olive blini.
